In 2006, Vimo SEWA members in Ahmedabad city had the option of using the cashless hospitalization system or filing a regular claim. Based on the success of the cashless hospitalization system in Ahmedabad city in 2006, it has been extended to all hospitalization claims submitted in Ahmedabad city in 2007. Vimo SEWA has tied up with 21 hospitals, of which several were part of the system in 2006. Six ‘Vimo saathis’ appointed by Vimo SEWA exclusively service cashless hospitalization claims. The saathibens have been allotted the responsibility of three to four hospitals each. Members residing in talukas of Ahmedabad district that border the city and get admitted in the cashless hospitalization are also eligible for cashless hospitalization, subject to certain conditions.

Under the hospital tie-up programme, Vimo SEWA selects multi-specialty hospitals run either by the government or by registered trusts. Private hospitals are included only after careful scrutiny of the quality of services provided. Vimo SEWA enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with each partner hospital, and negotiates affordable rates for its members.
